I have LOVED travel nursing. I have had so much fun on the east coast, visiting friends and seeing new places. In exactly 4 weeks, I'll be in an unknown location, so I am going to soak up my time here.

The picture above is from New Years Eve. My dear friend, Katherine, and one of our mutual friends, Erin, went to Baltimore to ring in the new year. Since she is now overseas doing missions work, the trip was ultra special. I will miss her greatly.

We got to stop on the way home and see another mutual friend the day after her birthday. Bread pudding and wine? I think they make PERFECT gifts...

I cannot really explain this view. Just look at the photo below. Two of the kindest, most interesting, giving people let me visit - AGAIN. It was a great adventure.

My friend on the left, Julie, is from Canada. We love her. My roommate/travel partner is on the right - Nicole. She's made her appearance on this blog before.

My mom had a piece of jewelry made for me a few years ago - a necklace. I had it re-made into a ring and just LOVE it. I am so excited about it!! Many thanks to the great people at Isbell's Jewelers for always being so great to work with - their unique stuff is so reasonable.

Last Saturday was a special day. It was 8 days before Christmas, my 25th birthday, and the day that Joey and Ashley got married. I LOVED being apart of this beautiful wedding; isn't Ashley stunning?

This moment with Ashley's dad was one of the sweetest things I've ever been apart of.

They had the SWEETEST "first look," and I loved the images we got from spending time with them...

There are just those people in the world. People who you actually feel regret over not keeping in touch with, people involved in memories that are forever sketched into your mind, people who make you better just in knowing them. Jade is one of those people.

I can't begin to express the joy I felt from the moment Jade contacted me about shooting her wedding. The whole event was joyful, and Jade made me feel like the luckiest girl in the whole world - by giving me the opportunity to photograph her wedding!
I'm still working on her images but had to show these few. These are pictures that show EXACTLY who Jade is: beautiful, kind, loving, patient, sweet... Daniel is a lucky guy! (He's not so bad himself!!)

Meet Corbin and Stephanie. Newlyweds. Also some of my favorite people in the whole world.

Corbin is one of my best friends in the entire world. He is the absolute perfect combination of an intelligent, attractive man with a kind, caring soul. We've become so close, and being able to capture his union to Stephanie was a highlight of my life FOR SURE.

See, we're more like brothers and sisters than we are cousins. For those who don't know us, the boy on the left is my little brother, and the girl to my right is my twin/triplet sister. The little girl is the apple of my eye and also my sister's oldest child. The groom and his sister are our 1st cousins on our Mom's side, but I don't like the idea of "cousins" with these people. They are deeper to my heart than I can place into words.

I can't try to lie. I was a basketcase the day of the wedding. I cried so many times, but I absolutely lost it when Stephanie was about to walk down the aisle. Watching Riley come down the aisle as the flower girl, all I could imagine was how happy my mom would've been to see it. I wept. Deeply. (maintaining my camera on auto-focus, of course) Then, the thought of Corbin seeing his bride for the first time brought more tears. I actually stepped back and allowed my talented, sweet, fun friend Kelly of Spindle Photography to shoot some of the ceremony. Just so I could enjoy the moment.

I've always wanted to shoot an entire wedding in black-and-white. I didn't with this one, but these all happened to be black-and-white. Enjoy. I'm incredibly proud of these images.

I love this next image. While my heart is lost in seeing my family with missing people, I am overwhelmed with joy. The happiness we are enjoying lately is a perfect manifestation of the sacrifice my dear mother put into each one of us. I'm proud to recreate our family as life goes on, all in honor of my dearest Mom.

A Story...

Kelly and I showed up in the girls' hotel room to document Stephanie getting ready with her bridesmaids. Her talented cousin did her hair, and we got the veil situated. Without even thinking much about it, she thought she wanted simple curls with a veil on top. She turned around, and everyone (including me) was obviously impressed!

But, then we started thinking. Stephanie and her cousin, Whitney, kept talking about this hairstyle they did as a "trial run" and said that they really liked it. We all debated it, really encouraging Stephanie to at least try the other one. What I love about her is that her laid-back attitude. She really didn't care... UNTIL she thought about what Corbin likes. She said that he likes her hair up, and wham! The decision was made. Just shows how much she loves him, and I love seeing that!

She looked pretty good, huh?

And, something tells me he's pretty happy himself!

Pinch Me!

Am I old enough to have Corbin get married? It doesn't seem right! Well, he married a BEAUTIFUL bride, and it was the greatest, most perfect wedding day... Let's not talk about how I am barefoot in this image. Ahh! How did I forget shoes? Ok, I know how - I was shooting on a chair for family photos and then hopped in this one. But, still!!!

I shed many tears. Look at this venue. Mom would have LOVED this place. The picture they had in memory of Mom? I cried. Watching my niece, Riley, walk down the aisle? I cried. Watching Corbin say his vows to Stephanie? I cried. Watching my aunt dance with her son? I cried.

All in all, though, it was beautiful. So, the "airplane couple" tied the knot! I tried to do a little imitation of their engagement picture and adore how it came out:

A Big Week!

I read a book this past week of grief. One of the things I agreed with is how grief changes with time. The author speaks about how 2-3 months after someone passes away, the tears become less. He says it's because the grief becomes deeper than tears - that you don't cry as much because there aren't actions that humans can do to express their depth of sorrow.
I agree. It's been 3 months since Mom passed away, and the sadness seems unbearable at times. This week reminds me so much of her. Yesterday, my precious nephew turned 2. I remember Mom holding him as a newborn, loving him every moment she got to see him, and enjoying his 1st birthday party so much. She would love this one just as much, and I hate that she's not here.

Then there's her favorite nephew, Corbin, who has also become one of my greatest friends. In 5 days, he marries the girl he's been smitten with for almost 2 years now. I couldn't be happier for the 2 of them. Of course we all wish his "Aunt B" was going to be there, but we're going to enjoy each moment for her. If I knew his "Aunt B," I know there will be a lot of tears. She would've wept, watching him marry his bride!

I can't wait for this weekend! A good friend of mine, Kelly (with Spindle Photography) will be joining me to document the occasion. Look out for some sneak peaks early next week. It's going to be fun!!!

I shot this wedding in the midst of my crazy schedule and right before my move to Virginia. Thomas, Melissa, and their families have all seen these photos, but how did I forget to share this on my blog? Melissa was a BEAUTIFUL bride.

Thomas isn't so bad himself! The McWane Center has a group area, and I have never been to a wedding there! It was so nice; I love the ceiling lights in this shot:

Fredericksburg, Virginia! Many people have asked questions, so I am going to answer them...
1. Why are you moving?
My friend, Nicole, and I are going travel nursing. We are staying on "as needed" at our main jobs in Birmingham but took this 13 week assignment. We plan to look into future assignments once this one is over, but we're only contracted for the next 13 weeks.
2. Are you moving everything?
No. My roommates are staying, and I will keep my house. We get a furnished apartment up there, so I will be able to have 2 places to live.
3. Are you still going to be doing photography?
Yes and no. I can only take limited time off while doing travel nursing, so I am booking less weddings. I do have some very special weddings on the books that I am looking forward to coming home for!
4. Why?
Why not is more the question!?! We get to move to different cities, see different places, learn different ER's, and make good money. And yes, we will be working in the ER at all the hospitals.
5. When do you leave?
Saturday. Or Sunday. We're playing it by ear right now, but we'll be driving together up there. Since we're nocturnal, we may drive up all night Saturday. We'll see how all that goes... :)
6. Are you nervous?
Of course! But oh so excited. I'm sad to leave Birmingham and everyone I love, but this will be a great opportunity. Let's just not talk about how much I am going to miss my family, ok?

I get this question a lot. People want to know how I don't get nervous during the wedding day. I really don't. I think it's because I take a laid-back approach to the wedding and act as if I am simply photographing a friend's wedding. Really, my clients are my friends, so it's easy.
I do have to admit, though, that right before the bride walks down the aisle, I get a little bit shaken up. See, there are 2 moments I am always dying to capture in a wedding. I have to say that I think I nailed them with this wedding!

I don't pick favorites, but this couple just "fit" with me. They are the sweetest people, calm and flexible with every situation. They were overly caring towards my needs and could not have been more flattering of my work. I will stay in touch with this sweet couple up in Raleigh!

Vegas Engagement Session

Sadly, I didn't get to go to Vegas for this engagement shoot, but we had a great time downtown! They are getting married in Las Vegas at the Bellagio in September but wanted to do something here in Birmingham where they live. We went to 2 of their favorite locations, where they spend a lot of time, and made it out just before the rain. Aren't they so cute?

Can a wedding gift make you cry?

Yes! Absolutely! My point exactly:

My sweet Mommy went to be with Jesus a mere 48 hours before Lindsey and Nathan's wedding. I had to be there. Despite the sadness, I could not have missed it. She, despite her terminal brain cancer, sent my aunt, cousin, and I on search of towels in the perfect color for these newlyweds. She said that you "always need towels." In her honor, I shot the ceremony, thanks to my dear friend Brian, and it was more than sweet. Refreshing. Endearing to see life and new beginnings and love.
A few weeks later, I received the tag off this gift in the mail. Both the bride and her mother, long-time friends of my mom, wanted me to keep this. If I remember correctly, this was the last thing she wrote. And now you see why I HAD to shoot the wedding... Because people like that don't come along often. Because their heart was so full of gratitude and gratefulness that I was encouraged by seeing them. Smith family, I LOVE you:

Recent Weddings

These past few weeks have been more than hard. I am learning to live again but in a sad way, a way in which I constantly miss my mom. I miss her so badly when photographing weddings because she always wanted updates, requesting play-by-play's.

Some people thought I was crazy for wanting to photograph wedding so close to the time that she died. I think it would be rude to her if I didn't. She would want me there. Plus, I have the greatest brides ever. I don't even want to call them "brides" or "clients." They are my friends, people I want to share weddings with. I am glad I was there.

I have missed my Mom so much the last 24 hours. So much that I can't even explain it, but I did want to post what I wrote and said at Mom's memorial. I feel like now is a good time to do just that:

"I never wanted to get to this day, the day that I would speak about my Mom in past-tense. Here I am, and I still don’t want this day to come.
Laura Story writes about how in the midst of hard times, we know that this is not our home. I am aware of that now more than ever. In many ways, Mom was my home. She was the constant peace-maker and common-factor in almost every situation. She always made sure that everyone was comfortable, and because of that, I feel lost. Like my home is gone. Like I have lost my best friend.
I will miss her for a lifetime and don’t think there will be a day that I won’t think of her. Some days more than others, like when I can’t remember how to sauté vegetables, need to know when the next Kohl’s sale is, or just want some encouragement. Mom was always just a phone call or text message away.
People often tell me that I look just like my Mom. Pictures of her in high school prove it. I used to get sick of hearing people say that, but now I consider it the greatest compliment I could ever receive.
I’ll never forget Mom in her last few days. Her body was failing miserably, but she was her same old self. She was talking to her friend, Kim, who is still fighting breast cancer. They planned a meeting to get together the following day, but before Mom would get off the phone, she said, “Well, I want you to tell me how you are. How are you feeling?” I just looked at Dad and smiled – that was my Mom. Selfless, caring, kind, patient, loving.
Mom, from the bottom of my heart, I love you as big as the sky and will miss you until I see you again. I promise to make you proud."

I am so proud of Mom. Of how she lived. She lived with such grace and trust, always clinging to Jesus. And, she died the same way. With so much more hope and so much more belief than I have.

So, I come to Jesus broken and weary and pray that I would live like Mom lived, one day dying in such a way that is pleasing, as Mom did as well.

I spent this past week in Las Vegas with some great friends. It was a necessary get-away trip that I know my Mom would have wanted me to take. I was really proud of this image and honestly just wish I could show it to Mom. I'll show it to you guys, instead:

Wedding I Missed...

Images like the one above make me really wish i would have been able to shoot this wedding. I had so been looking forward to this wedding, and even though I only knew Elizabeth through e-mail, phone calls, and mutual friends, she is just the sweetest thing. I knew it would be a special day. I wasn't able to shoot it, but didn't Jessica Wright step in and do a superb job?

Then I see pictures like these. And, I realize 2 things:
1. I realize that I owe Jessica BIG time because she gave me time with my Mom that I will never get back. She reminded me and affirmed the fact that relationships trump everything else in this world.
2. I realize why I love pictures, why I love photography. They remind us of people, of times, of events, and of emotions - sometimes emotions that are specific to certain relationships... like relationships with your mom.

May I never forget to live for relationships, to show love above all else:

And, again to Jessica, Elizabeth, and the Cain family, you have given me something I will never get back - a gift that I will forever be grateful for. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Memorial Worship

Whew. I feel as though I have run a never-ending marathon that is just as much emotionally as physically draining. In a lot of ways, I am glad Mom's memorial is over; it seemed like a looming event that seemed impossible to get through. Yet, I have never been so encouraged by the love that was shown to me, to my family, and to my sweet mom. I want to post the words that I spoke on Monday night but want to do that in another post. What I want to share are the words that impacted me the most on Monday night.

I asked that we sing "Be Thou My Vision" and "There is a Fountain" because those were songs that my mom treasured. I have wrestled with the prayer "whatever befall, still be my vision" for the past few years. I am still wrestling but trusting that God will give me the faith to rest in the midst of whatever does befall.

Mom often told me of the infusion room where she would receive chemo. The idea that some liquid being placed directly into her veins was so toxic that the nurses would need to suit up always brought lots of contemplation. She did, though, try to think of the chemo in the same way that the hymn speaks of Emmanuel's blood being transfused for us. I am in awe of her mind-set in the midst of receiving chemo, but that is why my Mom will forever be my hero. Her mindset on life was and is unmatched.

We must remember that God does "see each tear that falls," as well as that He hears our calls. I pray that I would continue to believe that daily.

Gratitude

There is such gratitude in my heart right now. This week has been one of the longest, most emotional, tiring, fearful weeks of my life, but I have been bombarded with love. A friend of mine told me to "soak up the love," and I completely agree. That is what I am trying to do - be encouraged by the love that people have because my Mom is a very loved woman.

I want to give a SPECIAL shout-out to Jessica Wright. (hence the photo above) Not only has she been a dear, dear friend to me, she agreed to photograph my wedding last weekend. It proved to be the last weekend I would spend with my mom, and so for that I am incredibly grateful for that... for you giving me the ability to be with my Mom in her last days. And, not only for that but for representing who I am better than I could ask for -- and for you photographing the wedding with such grace and talent. You are a jewel in my life.

Change

"I have been changed for good."

If you know me, you know that between John Mayer and Coldplay, my iTunes playlist is buzzing with Broadway musicals and the Glee renditions of the songs. There is just a joy in the music and the stories behind the music, and I was struck by a song from "Wicked" this week. I heard it both on Oprah and on Glee, and it was as if I was supposed to hear it multiple times.

The lyrics talk about a change that occurs from knowing someone special and how people are changed for good - forever. That is how I feel about my dear mommy. The lyrics say that the change might not be for the better, and people could argue that about me right now, with the bags under my eyes, the many sleepless nights, the countless tears, the fears, and the sadness.

But, I wouldn't change it for the world.

I truly believe the statement that says that "It is better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all." While the heartbreak is more than I can express, I would not change it for the world. The amount that I love, care for, respect, and admire my mom is outrageous, which means that the grief that I am in the midst of is even more outrageous.

But, I am oh so proud of my mom - of the fight that she has endured, of the love that she has shown us, and of the faith that she has in Jesus. I am proud of how my family has grown stronger and closer to one another, and it is because of the way we have been affected by Mom. She is an amazing woman, and that will never change. The sacrifice has been easy, and I know that I speak for my entire family when I say that we have never questioned what has needed to be done for Mom. Just because we love her so dearly.

While I am mad at the cancer, how it unfairly took away Mom's life, I enjoy her daily... and am so grateful for the last 24 1/2 years that I got to know and love her. Well, I guess you can say it's been over 25 years, since we spent many months together while she was on bedrest. :)

To all my friends who have been kind and understanding of my "absence," to every acquaintance who has offered to help us out or bring food, to all my photography friends who have had Saturdays on "stand by" for my brides, I am forever grateful. I am loved through each one of you and could not have done it without you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

catching up...

Whew. To say the last few months have been hard is a giant understatement. I am learning so much about life and love and family, and I have sacrificed a lot of things recently to spend time with my dear family. I am doing some catching up now and am almost caught up for my next wedding. Sadly, I have not had the time to re-cap my weddings like I usually do, but I did want to post a little bit about each one:

Erick and Stephanie had a whirlwind engagement, and their story is so unique! Their wedding was nothing short of superb at Ozan Vineyard, and I have never had a better experience with lighting at a wedding than this one. They did a less-traditional "leave," and the guests used sparklers during the last dance. They are so sweet together, and I wish them well!

Josh and Ali are so sweet together and the perfect example of a "cute" couple. I have loved them from the minute I shot their engagement pictures, and it was a job and pleasure to be with them on their wedding day. Their wedding took place at Riverchase United Methodist Church and many family and friends were there to see them say their vows... She even wore a dress so similar to the one my best friend wore on her wedding day! I wish them the absolute greatest in life...

Last Saturday was Rich and Jennifer's wedding. I could go on and on about this one. I grew up with Rich, and Jennifer is one of the kindest people I know. It was a pleasure to be there for their celebration and maybe the easiest wedding I have shot to date. Both Rich and Jennifer were so laid back, are obviously so in love, and were simply ready to be married. Watching Rich tear up as Jennifer walked down the aisle was a definite highlight to me! To the new Mr. and Mrs. Trucks, I wish you the greatest! Love you guys!

I have had a lot of sleepless nights lately for many reasons, and tonight is no different. I was wide awake about 2:40 and am trying to decide if I should just get up or not. In the midst of my decision-making, I did some editing; these beautiful photographs make early mornings a lot easier!

Mexico and Vineyards

Whew. My life never stops. It really doesn't bother me that way, but most people are astounded at how busy things are... I spent the week in Mexico City with one of my DEAREST friends. I will recap the trip soon, but for not, here is a picture after we scaled the pyramids. Those stairs seemed to be never-ending, but the view was beautiful.

I came home Friday night and shot this wedding yesterday. I've never shot at the Ozan Vineyard, but it was absolutely breath-taking. Many thanks to my friend Jessica Wright for shooting alongside me. This wedding will DEFINITELY be up on blog soon.

"Whatever Befall"

When you stop and think about it, the things we look over and miss are probably pretty profound. I find myself being really nostalgic about small trinkets, thinking about how much they mean to me. I am emotional with many photographs all over my room, remembering how deeply I care about the people in the pictures. I have lately been impacted more than usual by many songs, hymns, and verses; even small lines contain huge thoughts.

My favorite hymn of all time is "Be Thou My Vision." I have sung it probably over 100 times but have never considered the line that says "whatever befall, still be my vision." I was struck last Tuesday with that thought - that I would be, in prayer, willing to accept "whatever befalls." I'm not sure I am ready to say that. If I have said it for years dealing with heartbreak, I don't know that I am ready to continue to ask for that faith.

But, I will continue to hope. To ask for faith. To remember these blessings in disguise. To be hopeful in mercies new each morning. To be encouraged by dear friends... I am not sure that I knew what it meant to "weep with those who weep" until now. The people in my life willing to enter into my suffering have impacted me more than they will ever, ever, ever, ever know. I desire to be that kind of friend, and I am learning a lot from them.

So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you Staci, Erin, Campbell, Christi, Abby (Hassell and Cahill), Jamie, Bridgette, Katherine, Aubrie, Emily, and Jessica. Your witness makes me want to be a better person. Thank you for sacrificing your life and your self for me.

I leave for Mexico City in 24 hours. That beauty in the picture above is one of my greatest friends in the whole world and will be my tour guide for the next week. She is a teacher in Mexico City with the week off, and I am in desperate need of a little change/vacation.

I was worried about leaving - I can't lie. I have plans to be in constant contact with my family and to come home if I need to, but I just need to share about how grateful I am for my mother's heart. She has completely encouraged my trip, never once making me doubt, feel guilty, or be concerned about leaving. I simply envy the way that she cares for other people; I want to be like that.

This trip is for you, Mom - to enjoy life the way you enjoy life. To remember to seize each day and to value relationships above all else. Mexico, here I come!!!

Heaven

This season of life has brought about so many different emotions in the midst of Mom's cancer. I can't even begin to start to explain the different thoughts that fly through my mind at each moment of the day. Yesterday was different, though. I was struck, convicted, and almost embarrassed at the small amount of thought that goes into what Jesus did for me. For all of us. We have this incredible redemption because of the Crucifixion and have an eternal promise of heaven, and yet, how often do we completely overlook that promise?

One of Laura Story's new songs reminds of "every promise kept," but I'm not sure what promises I cling to daily. I think that I falsely consider that Jesus promised we would always be healthy. Jesus. To never be abandoned.

I was struck yesterday with gratitude for me and for Mom and for my family and for my friends and for every single person... Struck with the promise that redemption is ours. That we will not be let go. And that we are promised heaven. I want my mind to be so intrigued by that truth that my mind would consistently be drawn to that promise. In the midst of the sadness and grief, I would be grateful for what lies ahead - no sin, no sickness, no sadness. I want to go.

Beauty in Death

(Warning. This is a raw post about death and suffering. Just want you to know before reading.)

If you know me, you probably know that my Mom has been battling cancer now for almost 6 years. She is the bravest person I know and has battled this because of her love. She loves life so much that she wants to live for it - for me, my siblings, my niece and nephew, my dad, her friends, her church... I'm very sure that she is the most giving person I know.

Very recently we found out that she has brain cancer, which essentially means that the cancer has just gone to her brain now. From the way it appears, we are in the last few weeks, maybe even days of her life, and my world is vast with emotions. I am grateful that Jesus is near to her. I am jealous that she is closer to heaven than all of us. I admire that her faith is so strong that she has full confidence in her Savior. I am mad that I won't grow up any longer with a mother. I grieve over the sadness that I see in her body. I fear the next few days and what that means for her body. I cry when I see old pictures of my family. I laugh at stories that Mom has told maybe a few too many times. I am confused about how I am supposed to feel and how to go about life like this.

So, I take things one day at a time. I am surrounded by things that remind me of my Mom, of the love that she has for me as a daughter, of the strong and believing Christian that she has always been, of the constant sacrifice she has made each day of her life. I long to be the mother, daughter, friend, believer, sister, aunt, and companion that she has been in her life. If you know Mom, you know that is not an easy task to take on because she is the best, but I long to live like she has lived.

In the midst of all of this, I am so grateful for how I have changed and grown. I love better and want to be a better person. I know stronger of the bonds that I have in my family and fight for those on a daily basis. I remember on a moment-to-moment basis of the blessings that we have. I focus on living each day in a way that would be pleasing to God and make my dear mother proud.

I long to be someone who treats others as if they were in my shoes. Or mom's shoes. Or anyone else's shoes dealing with terminal cancer. May God make me a compassionate, kind, loving, generous person and nurse each and every single day.

And from the bottom of my heart, Mom, I am proud to be your daughter. I won't ever forget you, and I can't wait to tell my husband and children about the incredible life I have had with you. Thank you for what you have done for me; I could not have asked for more.

Love and Airplanes

First of all, we owe a BIG "thanks" to Air Orlando Flight School for letting us use their property and airplanes for our shoot yesterday morning. Thanks so much guys!!!

Meet Corbin. If you know me well, you know Corbin. He's my cousin who is more like my brother and a good friend. That cute girl in the background is Stephanie, his soon-to-be wife.

They wanted to do a "themed" shoot and flew me to Orlando with the idea of doing the photos with airplanes. I am so happy they did because I love how the pictures turned out. Both of their personal history includes traveling and flying, and it means so much more because of that.
If I could possibly choose a favorite few, it would be these first 3. It's so hard to choose!!!

This one blew up on facebook when i posted it; it really should be an ad somewhere. I want to go wherever they are going!

Stephanie, it's obvious that my cousin is smitten with you, and I've never seen him happier. I am excited to get to you and your family better. I know that you and Corbin will have a happy life, and I look forward to being apart of it!

Some people think I am crazy for everything I do. I work as a nurse full-time, and I usual travel when I get off for a few days. These past few days reminded me that I love what I do – even as busy as I am. I had the opportunity to go visit an old friend of mine, Laura, who you’ll probably remember from her wedding almost a year ago:

I really got to relax and chill out, and it was just fabulous. Laura was willing to pick me up, host me, and go to an engagement photo shoot I had in Raleigh. I’d never met Amanda in person but knew that I liked her! I was right, and her fiancé, Ryan, might win for the easiest groom to photograph. We talked and wandered around the beautiful gardens at Duke University, and it was heavenly. A photographer’s dream world! I think you’ll see what I mean in the pictures:

Wednesday Happy

I spent yesterday afternoon with this sweetie. We walked around and explored with words like "big truck" and "bye-bye." He's an absolute doll, and it did me good to be with his little self, even if I hadn't slept a wink! Of course I took my camera along for the adventure:

This was the engagement shoot that kept not wanting to happen. I can't tell you how many e-mails and texts and phone calls Abby and I have traded over the last few months, trying to get this shoot to happen. Of course it wound up being 41 degrees outside, but these 2 were such troopers!!!

It's obvious from looking at these pictures that these 2 really love and care for each other. They're also so lively and fun to be around! I am so looking forward to putting these images into a guest album for them... and also looking forward to their beautiful June wedding coming up!

I just finished my friend's pictures and just love how they turned out. It really has been fabulous to watch Meagan grow into a beautiful mother, and I look forward to Addie growing up.

WPPI has been a great experience. I was able to meet some fabulous people and look forward to staying in touch with these Birmingham photographers. I am now on my way home by way of San Diego, and I don't want this vacation to end!

Little Addie

That picture just melts my heart. See, there are some people in this world you are not biologically related to, but they're just like family. That's what Meagan is to me, which makes little Addie my new "pseudo" niece. Is she not the cutest? I got to visit for a mere 24 hours and was so glad we got some pictures while I was there.

I mean, don't you just want to grab her and kiss those little cheeks? You should be jealous because I got to... That sweet little doll doesn't know how blessed she is, and I am grateful to be able to walk along-side my friend as she parents this little one. I'll probably have a built-in babysitter in Addie by the time I get around to having kids. Ha!

I love you, Meagan and Scott! And, I love how this baby is a constant reminder of the miracles that Jesus does.

Almost time for play...

Warning: Before you read, I realized that this post is overly random and not very well organized. Sorry! My mind must be tired from the ER all weekend!

Whew. These past few weeks have been a whirlwind. For those of you who don't know me, I am full-time nurse, part-time wedding photographer. I'm also in school part-time, so my schedule is pretty much insane most of the time. I am enjoying what I'm doing right now, though, and am ready for some "play time" soon, like...

- spending the night with a dear friend
- visiting my almost niece this weekend
- going to VEGAS for WPPI
- getting to see my good friend beth in san diego

All of this will happen starting tomorrow, and while it'll be a whirlwind of a vacation, I'm so excited that it's almost time for play.

So looking forward to the weddings I have coming up, too! Kelly's January wedding did not disappoint, and I have Christy, Stephanie, Ali, Jennifer, Elizabeth, Abby, Lindsey, Melissa, Amanda, Ali, Jade, and Ashley to look forward to. :)

There is something about right when the bride and groom are pronounced as "man and wife" and get to walk back down the aisle together - that moment is priceless. As a wedding photographer, I get to capture that moment and be the first face they see. This weekend, Hodge and Kelly became Mr. and Mrs. Patterson, and I loved the moment right when they were pronounced. These two photos are some of my favorites from the day.

Celebrating 24!

Last summer I started brainstorming. I wanted to do something for my birthday - something meaningful and memorable. Coming off my friend Janet's fun Nashville bachelorette trip, I was bound and determined to be a bachelorette without the impending wedding. My roommate, Aubrie, suggested New Orleans, and the plans started rolling.
5 of my greatest friends, my sister and brother-in-law, and I spent a glorious weekend in the "Big Easy" and had a superb time. We stayed at the wonderful Hilton on St. Charles being treated like royalty. It was perfect, literally 2 blocks from Canal Street and a 5 minute walk from the heart of the French Quarter.

I decided to not take my camera because I wanted to enjoy each moment. The mimosas each morning, the long lunches with silly conversations, the beauty to enjoy in walking around - it was so calming. My friends still documented the weekend (of course), and my sweet roommate printed some images for me. I framed them a few minutes ago, and the memories flooded back!

I am so grateful for each one of these girls. They shape who I am and make me want to be a better friend. The girl on the far left (right next to me) is a bride whose wedding I shot a few years ago who has become a good friend. She helped us plan our trip and even came to the gumbo/jazz festival with us. It was so great to see her!
We ate at the famous Commander's Palace for the jazz brunch, and it was the BEST. FOOD. I'VE. EVER. EATEN. No questions asked. It was fabulous. My late grandfather "Papa" used to take his bride there once a month, just as a day trip. I can see why. The food was incredible, and the jazz band walking around playing music made everything so ... well, happy! It was fun to get to experience something that was so special to my grandparents for so much of their lives.

Thanks, New Orleans, for a great birthday. I am excited about 24 and looking forward to all this year has to offer!

Whew. I am ready to be well again. Until then, I'm hanging in there and REALLY looking forward to a fun wedding this weekend. As I was checking my Google Reader today, I saw that Taylor Haynie had some pictures up of "Emily and Andrew." I was so excited - see, I have known Andrew (or "Dag") for quite some time... And, she did not disappoint. The engagement pictures were fabulous, and while I am very sad that I was booked for their wedding, I am looking forward to seeing the images she captures at their family ceremony next week.

WPPI: What do all those letters mean?

For any wedding photographer, the term WPPI brings about joy, excitement, and the thrill of much information. To everyone else, it's 4 letters that really don't go together.

WPPI is a conference for wedding photographers that takes place every February in Las Vegas. I've never been and have made it my goal to attend this year. I'll be rooming with Amy Carson and Melissa Pardi and will also get to reunite with my friends Melissa Jill and Amelia Strauss, among others.

I'm proud of myself for going, as it's been a goal of mine for a year now. What makes me even more excited is the chance that I have to **maybe** shoot with Justin and Mary. See, last year it was my goal to go listen to one of their "Spread the Love" workshops, and those 4 hours in Atlanta changed the way that I view photography, life, and the world. To combine my goal last year with this year's goal and shoot with them at WPPI would be **unreal.**

Justin and Mary are some of the kindest people you'll ever meet, down-to-earth and humble... and oh-so talented! I have e-mailed them a bit regarding the impact that they've made on me, and it would be an honor to shoot with them while I'm in Vegas. They can somehow make every couple look like they are on a Hollywood set - and yet natural. That's talent.

One thing, though, is that if I don't get to do the "Shoot Out" with them, you'll for sure catch me on Thursday morning at their class on "How To Be A Rainmaker."

Bonus! Lens Pro To Go will be there, too, to let photographers shooting with Justin and Mary use some new lenses. I believe that these guys are the best in the industry. I have rented lenses galore from them and have been more than impressed with their professionalism; I even bought my recent equipment from them. Can't wait to meet them in person and tell them how much I truly respect them.

Random December Memories

December flew by, but as I have been going back through my images, I have so much gratitude in my heart. I got to spend time with some wonderful people, and I wouldn't change a moment of it. We met up with my cousins for Christmas, and I love these shots of my family. How blessed am I? Seriously -

I got to spend time with friends who I have deeply missed. This is Ben, one of my oldest and dearest friends.

We did the picture thing a little bit backwards because that's Ben's beautiful wife, Ellen, on the right with another friend, Blake. Waffle House made me miss my college days!

My friend, Janet, hosted a high school get-together gone "Dirty Santa Party." When I arrived, she showed me how she had displayed the images from her wedding, and I am so honored. She has done it well - maybe better than any of my past brides. Thanks, Janet!

Highlights of 2010

What a great year 2010 has been! I swear I don't know where it went because time simply flew by, but what a blessing to have been apart of so many beautiful weddings.

I wanted to take some time to remember my 2010 weddings and share something special from each one of them. Above are Craig and Jennifer dancing at the Sonnet House (my favorite venue ever!)... They had special drinks for their guests at the bar, made specifically from their liking - what a special little touch!

Chad and Maria's wedding is probably the most noticed on my blog this year, probably because she looked like the most gorgeous red-carpet star ever! This picture has been commented on a lot, and I don't blame people. Maria had a little dress snaffoo, but she didn't let it phase her one bit. :)

Who could forget the rain on Ryan and Laura's big day? Probably everyone by now because of their calmness and excitement both. Plus, the pictures of these two look nothing but stunning because they are just fantastic!

Brandon and Beth's sweet backyard wedding was so quaint and special. All I can remember is how much BBQ I ate at that reception!

Bryan and Jennifer had the neatest arrangement/covering to their cake tables I've ever seen, not to mention that Jennifer's laugh is just contagious. Can't you see it in the picture below?

This is the first of a few album design pages I'm included because I just love it. Thomas and Morgan's wedding was so special to me, and her goddess-like dress and hair made her even more radiant than she already is!

Geoff and Elizabeth have the only wedding with 2 images featured. I just LOVE these dancing picture, and all I can say is people from the University of Georgia have the best dance moves out of anyone!

Walter and Anna... What do I say? I'm not sure how to sum this one up, except to say that it was nothing but a pure honor to spend time with my friends on their wedding day.

Brian and Bevin got married in Huntsville, and we were able to explore this beautiful country club between their wedding and reception. The lighting was just gorgeous, and these two made the day relaxed and easy.

Bradley and Janet are two more of my good friends. Between the heat of an August day and the power being out at the church, I wasn't so sure that my hot-natured friend would survive. But, she did graciously and beautifully.

Matt and Jenell. I feel like we're close friends just because of how they are - warm, welcoming, kind. One thing I specifically remember is the glass of red wine that Matt offered me at his reception - what a kind gesture of thanks.

Blake and Tabitha's wedding was so special thanks to their family but also because they got married in a church her family members had built. I love little touches like that!

Ha! I didn't know that Gardendale Baptist had two locations and showed up at the wrong one first. Ha! My favorite memory from Craig and Lisa's wedding was how sweet their "first look" was; these two are so in love.

Marshall and Becca were married after being separated in other countries during much of their dating life. They were so excited about getting married, and it was so infectious! And, their tres leches wedding cake - yummy!

Lee and Katie got married at a church I pass every single day on my way to work. How could I have never noticed it? I will now remember their big day each time I am on my way to work!

Brian and Lora were my 2nd wedding at the Sonnet House. Lora wanted to see Brian in the woods, and I love how the photos turned out. Their wedding between the big tree and the barn was simply perfect.

And the latest couple to join the scbphotography family is Josh and Keri. They have just returned from their honeymoon to spend Christmas with their family, and I'll be sharing more very, very soon!

Winding Up 2010

I get asked often who I would use if I were getting married. Now, don't get me wrong - there is no wedding anywhere in the near future. Still, it's an interesting question, and I don't know if I have the answer.

I'll look at people's blogs often and be drawn to their work. I don't know if I can name them all, but today I was struck by Bobbi and Mike, an incredible husband-and-wife team. There was just something about their post that made me smile. I can say that if I were to get engaged tonight, I'd have to hit them up.

They said that Mom wouldn't live past last Thanksgiving. Not a chance. And here we are, a week from Turkey Day, and my heart couldn't be more full. I have learned that life is so much more than what we make it. I have learned to love extravagantly and not regret anything. I have learned to enjoy each moment of life and remember the blessings, even if unseen.

Thanks be to God for providing me with all my needs. And many of my wants. And a mom who can watch me turn 24. And teach me how to be a good friend, believer, sister, aunt, and wife (one day). Mom, there are no words to describe how much I love you... and how grateful I am to God for 2010.

Marshall and Becca were married earlier today at the 4-H Center in Columbiana. Last year, I shot a wedding there about this time, and it truly is a beautiful outdoor wedding venue. I am not going to lie - it was COLD today, but everyone braved the cold well. These two obviously have friends and family who care deeply for them, and it was an honor to be with them.

Special thanks to my friend, Abby, for helping me today. Also thanks to my friends Catherine and Bridgette for being supportive bridesmaids. Oh, and I can't forget Sharla, the greatest wedding director of all time!!!

Stealing is Bad!

I am sad to say that I am going to have to make some changes to the pictures I post on my blog and on facebook. Sadly, I have had many instances lately where people have been using pictures inappropriately and against their contract boundaries.

I'd like to think that these people don't mean harm, but I am not certain of that. Either way, I have a strong desire to to protect my images: the images of my clients. I plan to do that by making 3 changes:
-disabling people from opening up a larger image on my blog
-placing my watermark "logo" on the images that go on facebook
-disabling the ability to right click anywhere on my blog

There may be more changes coming, but I am hoping this will do the trick. In the meantime, try to use your best judgement as to whether or not you are reproducing something that you should not allowed to reproduce. Remember that stealing is bad! There could also be prosecution for these instances, so be careful of that as well!

All photographers want to be able to showcase their images to their clients but also to others; however, photographers also want to protect the work that they do and are proud to show under their name! I can say this whole-heartedly because I have had multiple conversations with very talented photographers who would say the same thing.

*In other, more "light-hearted" news, I was able to photograph a really beautiful fall wedding yesterday and look forward to putting up images on my blog very soon!*

Lisa and Craig were married earlier this month in Gardendale. I'm not sure what was my favorite part of the day - trying to find the "other" church, watching them and their sweet/emotional first look, enjoying the incredible bride's cake. Craig and Lisa were married on Saturday in Gardendale. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know these two, and they weren't going to let anything stop them from enjoying their wedding -- not emergency surgery nor a nosebleed... not even Alabama losing in the midst of their wedding!

Seriously, though, these are two of the kindest people I have met in a while, and their laid-back love was nothing short of an honor to document. Here are a few images that show the beauty that was this fall wedding.

Aren't they the cutest? They really are... I had a great time with them out at The Preserve yesterday. What beautiful fall weather. My favorite part of these two is when they look at each other - you can tell that they are super excited about getting married.

the reason that i titled this blog post "quaint" is that this wedding was at a small country church in fayette, alabama. tabitha's great-grandfather built the church, and her wedding was just as small and as quaint as she wanted. it was perfect. she looked just stunning...

my sister gave me a picture frame last christmas. the words on it have become a challenge for me -- almost so that i am daily reminded to do the following:
live well. laugh often. love always. live simply. speak kindly. care deeply. love generously. laugh as much as you breathe and love as long as you live.

can this little guy be any cuter?

so, my challenge to you as 2010 comes to a close is this: find a way to live more simply and enjoy life more deeply. and, whatever you do - love as long as you live. there is no greater thing.

It is wedding season for sure for me, and I am super excited to introduce two of my fall/winter couples. They were all kind and patient enough to overcome some heat and time constraints, and I am excited about the outcome.

First of all, meet Lora:

Hello beautiful! She is planning an October wedding at the Sonnet House, my favorite Birmingham venue. Can't wait! Of course their little dog, Bella, stole the show:

She holds a special place in my heart because I am good friends of her family. It is a pleasure to be shooting her wedding to Hodge come January - I look forward to it greatly!

Sweet Hodge celebrated his 26th birthday taking engagement photos, but he never once complained. See, Hodge, I told you it wouldn't be that bad!

I just finished editing Brian and Bevin's wedding photos, and it is obvious that these two are in love... Also evident is the love and support of their family and friends. Some of their friends travelled from far-away countries to celebrate with these two. One interesting thing about hiring a second photographer is seeing pictures of myself in action. Thankfully, Jessica gets decent images when she works with me. But, more than that, I love working with Jessica because she is so kind, patient, laid-back and (best of all) very talented! So, while she was taking the above image, I was getting this image of beautiful Bevin:

It has been a whirlwind of a week, and my computer just got back from the Apple Store. I am hoping the problem is fixed and about to get back to all the editing that I have to do!

I came across these pictures of Jenell that my new friend Amy Carson took for me. This is exactly how every bride should be on their wedding day:
-grateful to their guests for coming to celebrate
-calm but excited to marry their best friend
-taking it all in: enjoying each moment

i hate cancer.

Some things in life just are not fair. I realize that life was never guaranteed to be equal or fair, but sometimes I am overwhelmed by the sadness in the world.
One of my dearest friends lost her grandmother this week. It just doesn't seem right that two weeks after coming back from her honeymoon, she is having to plan a funeral for someone she loves so dearly. It makes me sick at my stomach - makes my heart just drop to my ankles.
But, I love the picture above. I love that, despite the miserable battle with cancer, her "Gigi" could see the beautiful bride and watch her walk down the aisle. I love that you can sense the love that these two have for each other. I love that moments like this will live on, despite death.

If you know my story at all, you know that I have many other reasons to hate cancer. I am, however, grateful of how cancer changes me - grows me - challenges me: to love, to appreciate, to continue on. And, I love that it gives me a longing to love Jesus... a longing to pray that He would come quickly and rescue us from this broken, broken world.

and, i'm not sure why... but, i think it has to do with the people in the image, more than anything. in some ways, i think i like to deny the fact that i may be old enough to have friends getting married. they are, though, and it's so been so beautiful to be apart of their celebrations.
janet, specifically, has grown into such a beautiful person, both inside and out. i counted it nothing than an honor be apart of her big day, of the special moments... and, i look forward to knowing her for a long time. love you, janet.

Website Update - DONE!

Whew. I have been wanting to update my website for what seems like forever. I liked what was up there already - the pictures and memories from weddings past... But, I just felt like it was time for a change - for an update and a new, fresh look.

So, I present to you my new homepage:

Take a minute to check out the pictures - most of them are new and hand-selected by me as pictures that I just love. I hope you will, too.

I also added some sweet comments from brides past who just had kind things to say to me. I asked the two brides below, Laura and Morgan, to write something because I was to have a little "promo" thing written about me. Their kind words are here below - I really desire to make all my clients so happy with every step of the planning/photography process.

"Camille was more then I could of asked for. Even from the beginning with engagement pictures, she made us feel so comfortable. My husband hates to take pictures and she got so many good shots! Then the day of the wedding finally came and of course people were not on time but thankfully Camille made me feel so relaxed, she was not in a rush and really reminding me to enjoy the day. The bridesmaids' pictures were so fun to take and she really captured everyone's personalities. Again my husband and his groomsman were not thrilled about taking pictures but he said she took them so quick. My family is HUGE so getting group shots were going to be so tricky.. but again Camille was amazing I think we were done with family pictures in 15 minutes.
With all this said the main thing that was amazing to me was that I do not remember Camille taking pictures. I mean this in a good way, normally at a wedding the photographer is in the bride's face the entire time and it is distracting. When i went through the pictures she got so many candid shots that i did not even know she got. When i got to see all of the pictures i was blown away! She got the most amazing shots the ones you want to remember like my father giving me away, our first kiss, first dance, and my favorite was exiting the reception. Overall she did an outstanding job and I have so many pictures, that it is so hard to choose from! If i did it all over again, I would not change a thing!"

"I was so impressed with Camille as our photographer. It was pouring down rain the day of our "outdoor" wedding, but instead Camille and her assistant Amanda showed up and acted like it was a perfect day, and this happens all the time, which was really helpful and encouraging for a nervous bride! The photos she took were perfect- exactly what we wanted and so much more! They will allow us to remember and cherish our wedding day forever. She was so much fun to work with and had such an easy personality that made everyone enjoy taking the pictures. And she even posted some photos the very next day after the wedding so we were able to have a small preview on our iphones before we left the country on our honeymoon:) Then a few weeks later she had the rest of our pictures ready. It was amazing how quick and professional she was. She really captured the mood of the day in all the pics. Camille is so talented and I’ve received so many compliments from so many people on her work. I cannot say enough good things about this photographer. We are so thankful for these photos. We will forever be grateful Camille!!"

New Posts Ahead!!!

I didn't realize until now all the posts that I still need to do. I go back and forth between deciding on posting stuff on my blog and/or on facebook. It's a hard decision for me... Either way, I have some fun new posts coming your way over the next few days.

One post that is very much necessary is of my dear friend, Janet, and her LOVELY wedding last week. She and her now husband just returned from a fantastic vacation, and I can't wait to share some of the pictures with them. Don't you just love this one?

And, last night I shot Matt and Jenell's wedding. It was a joy. I'm not even through uploading all the images but loved these and decided to throw in a little "sneak."

the above picture is of me and my good friend, jamie. i'm not really sure how to describe her, other than she is seriously one of the greatest people in the world... she lives in mexico city right now, and it is so great to be able to see her in person!!!

we travelled to nashville last weekend to celebrate janet getting married and boy did we celebrate!!! it was a fantastic weekend, though, and i nothing more than love these girls. i forgot how much i missed them, until i was back with them.

I love the above picture. I am sure that it appears to everyone else that I destroyed the image Melissa was trying to get. But, I love it because everyone is laughing. This wedding was SO much fun, and the family carried the laughter through a lot of the wedding day festivities...

Beauty in Imperfection

I am out of town right now working at a camp where I've been a counselor for years. I actually spoke this morning on how beauty can come from a lot of places... Then, I started working on these ceremony images and laughed at the irony.

Melissa took the below shot because she thought it was so funny for me to look so "proper." I really didn't think that I looked that "proper" -- I just had to find a way to brace myself. We were not allowed into the sanctuary, so it was hard to maneuver and get the shot between the glass frames. Either way, I looked a little ridiculous taking it:

Nonetheless, I love what I got. Some people might have thrown this image out because of the glare from the windows behind me. I keep it, though, because I think the moment with Elizabeth and her dad is too sweet to ignore.

Later, Melissa and I did some pretty impressive tag-teaming to get a big shot without any glare or shadow, and I love the way this ceremony looks in the sanctuary:

Pictures That I Love

Sometimes I wish people could see the smile I have on my face when pictures from a session are uploading on my computer. There are often many that make me smile and some that I just adore. These caught my eyes as I was editing yesterday...

A New Addition

There are some people you just click with... These two are simply two of those people. I met them almost two years ago, when they were planning their January 2009 wedding. We met, they booked me, and next thing I knew we were taking engagement pictures on Sunday afternoon.

Before I knew it, it was January and time for their wedding. It was one of the sweetest wedding ceremonies I have ever experienced, and it was obvious that these two were just ready to be married. I still to this day think back on their wedding and wedding images with great fondness!

Since their wedding, we have kept up through e-mails, phone calls, and countless dinner parties. They were excited to show me a sonogram a few months ago, and now their sweet little baby boy has made his appearance. I got to meet him Saturday morning and take some pictures. What an honor! I cannot wait to watch their family grow.

I love the reminder that these parents want on their birth announcement -- that would cite the verse that this little baby boy is "fearfully and wonderfully made."

Jennifer and I went to high school together but really were never all that "close." Jennifer was always the cute, sweet, talented girl everyone loved, and I suppose that is one of the things that attracted Bryan to her. June has been a really great month, but I don't really remember it. Ha! I have shot 3 really fantastic weddings and am working on the other 2. I was blessed to photograph Bryan and Jennifer's wedding last weekend and am finally able to show some of her bridal images that we shot last month at The Preserve in Hoover.

Time just flies. I try to enjoy each day but am often shocked with how fast time flies... I celebrated Father's Day at my parent's pool with my family and even took my camera into the pool - dangerous!

Someone commented on a picture that I posted of Walter and Anna getting into their get-away car last week... They commented saying that while it was simple, it was such a fun moment. I agree and love these 2 from last week, too!

I was blessed to be apart of another wedding today, and Bryan and Jennifer are now Mr. and Mrs. Gibson... Congrats!

Have you cried at a blog post?

I did this morning.

Let me take you back about 8 months ago... I got a call from my dear dear friend Lauren saying that she was getting married. The date that she wanted to get married was a date that I could photograph her wedding, but it ended up being June 12, a date that I was already booked.

I sent her to this "new photographer's website" named Amanda Pair and told her that while she was newer into photography, I thought she was friendly, kind, and really talented. I thought that, if everything worked out, Lauren and Amanda would be the perfect match!

Fast-forward to this morning. I sat, looking at the photographs of Brett and Lauren's wedding and read what Amanda posted. I literally teared up and cried through it - because Lauren is such a dear, dear, dear soul to my heart. What a jewel she is!

And, in that moment, I was so grateful for pictures. For photography. And for Amanda. It makes me appreciate all the hard work and she and other photographers put in to capture so many magical, priceless memories. That may sound cheesy, but I believe each and every word of it.

I was honored to photograph the wedding of Walter and Anna Wilson yesterday. I have known these two since high school, and there wedding was really a high school reunion of sorts - and so much fun!!! They are in St. Lucia, which makes me jealous, but I am here to recap their big day... starting with the elegant Asbury United Methodist Church:

Walter and Anna, there is so much I want to tell you. Thank you for staying friends with me and for allowing me to document your "big day." I am so excited that you are moving into my neighborhood, and I promise that we will spend time together soon. I hope that you enjoy each moment of St. Lucia, and I will have your pictures when you get back. Congrats!

Random Wednesday Post

Well, I have had so many random things that I have wanted to blog -- that I decided to put them all together.

I met this cute couple yesterday morning at Guntersville State Park. Guntersville is special to me because my grandparents live up there, and Matt and Jenell were kind enough to meet me half-way. I adore this picture of them - just so simple and casual:

This is another couple who I've just "premiered" on facebook, and this is my absolute favorite shot. I don't know if it's the angle or the colors - I love it. Congrats to Brandon and Beth!

One of my dearest friends in the entire world - Jamie - is a teacher in Mexico City. I was super excited to be able to chat with her on Tuesday. She and some of her students entertained me online, and I am so grateful for Skype! (But more grateful for sweet Jamie!)

I shot bridal portraits on Tuesday that were just BEAUTIFUL. Of course I can't post those photos until after her wedding, so everything stays a "surprise." But, I got one to throw up on the blog!

In the midst of all my recent weddings, on top of LIFE, I almost forgot to mention this sweet family session that I photographed a week ago. They are going through a lot of life changes and wanted to commemorate the grandmother's birthday with a family photography session. Here is just a little sneak peak of what we got:

I'm not sure I have had a bride who showed so much excitement over seeing her wedding photos, so this one is for you, Beth!

Beth and Brandon were married last night in a small, intimate wedding in his parents' back yard. I was really impressed with the ceremony site; everyone worked really hard to pull it off! Thankfully, the rain held off, and Full Moon catered the event. Of course it was tasty!

The above photo was taken literally minutes after Thomas and Morgan became husband and wife, and I must say that I loved being in the taxi. I have never had a couple be more welcoming or more sacrificing of their time together, and it was such a blessing to spend a few moments with them. And, I think that their kind attitude paid off in the above picture because I LOVE IT.

Morgan asked for good "dancing" pictures and "leaving" pictures, and I really love what we got!
