Website Update - DONE!

Whew. I have been wanting to update my website for what seems like forever. I liked what was up there already - the pictures and memories from weddings past... But, I just felt like it was time for a change - for an update and a new, fresh look.

So, I present to you my new homepage:

Take a minute to check out the pictures - most of them are new and hand-selected by me as pictures that I just love. I hope you will, too.

I also added some sweet comments from brides past who just had kind things to say to me. I asked the two brides below, Laura and Morgan, to write something because I was to have a little "promo" thing written about me. Their kind words are here below - I really desire to make all my clients so happy with every step of the planning/photography process.

"Camille was more then I could of asked for. Even from the beginning with engagement pictures, she made us feel so comfortable. My husband hates to take pictures and she got so many good shots! Then the day of the wedding finally came and of course people were not on time but thankfully Camille made me feel so relaxed, she was not in a rush and really reminding me to enjoy the day. The bridesmaids' pictures were so fun to take and she really captured everyone's personalities. Again my husband and his groomsman were not thrilled about taking pictures but he said she took them so quick. My family is HUGE so getting group shots were going to be so tricky.. but again Camille was amazing I think we were done with family pictures in 15 minutes.
With all this said the main thing that was amazing to me was that I do not remember Camille taking pictures. I mean this in a good way, normally at a wedding the photographer is in the bride's face the entire time and it is distracting. When i went through the pictures she got so many candid shots that i did not even know she got. When i got to see all of the pictures i was blown away! She got the most amazing shots the ones you want to remember like my father giving me away, our first kiss, first dance, and my favorite was exiting the reception. Overall she did an outstanding job and I have so many pictures, that it is so hard to choose from! If i did it all over again, I would not change a thing!"

"I was so impressed with Camille as our photographer. It was pouring down rain the day of our "outdoor" wedding, but instead Camille and her assistant Amanda showed up and acted like it was a perfect day, and this happens all the time, which was really helpful and encouraging for a nervous bride! The photos she took were perfect- exactly what we wanted and so much more! They will allow us to remember and cherish our wedding day forever. She was so much fun to work with and had such an easy personality that made everyone enjoy taking the pictures. And she even posted some photos the very next day after the wedding so we were able to have a small preview on our iphones before we left the country on our honeymoon:) Then a few weeks later she had the rest of our pictures ready. It was amazing how quick and professional she was. She really captured the mood of the day in all the pics. Camille is so talented and I’ve received so many compliments from so many people on her work. I cannot say enough good things about this photographer. We are so thankful for these photos. We will forever be grateful Camille!!"

To every client who has, is, and will ever use me for their photography needs - thank you. I am grateful to do what I love.

"behind the scenes"

So, my second shooter, Kristen, is always so kind as to get photos of me shooting... I think they're fun to go through as I'm editing, even though most of the time I am just sporting a swenched up face and awkward pose. I do think they tell a good story, though, as to what a day is like of me shooting a wedding.

The sad news is that I RARELY take pictures of Kristen. I'm not sure why I don't except that I must just not think about it. I do think, too, that our positioning makes it hard. Usually, when I second shooting for someone else, I am most often behind them. Shooting someone in front of you is much easier than shooting someone behind you; still, though, I have no excuse. Kristen, I am sorry. I will try harder these next 2 weddings. :)

And, don't you DARE make fun of me for my outfit! I had 2 people tell me that I looked like a ballerina, but I absolutely loved the look and the ease of this comfort. Now, this position, you can make fun of, at least until you see the fun shoe shot I got from it!

a reunion of sorts...

I had the pleasure of spending time with Rob and Anne Riley (and their new cat, Peach) this past Thursday evening. I had offered some of my 2008 clients a little "thank you," and they were my first session!! :) Things were just fantastic with these two, especially considering that they fed me some chicken fajitas. Check out this cute cat, too... "Peach" really loved my shoes, too.

the story of corey & erin

so, beginning about 2 years ago, people started asking me if i knew corey & erin nolen. of course, since we are all relatively the same age and go the same church and enjoy taking photos, we should know each other. i really had absolutely no clue who they were. then, i eventually put a face with a name but was never introduced.

about a year ago, sweet erin asked if i wanted to get coffee one day and chat. from the minute i met her, i was fascinated with her photography business but even more impressed with her friendly, fun, humble, kind, helpful attitude. it's been so great to get to know her over the last few months.

i got to officially (and FINALLY) meet corey this past weekend at our "workshop" and was honored to take some photos of the two of them. i can't wait to edit more of these, but for now... here are a few! their little boy, grayben, will continue to make appearances on this blog, but i wanted to post about this fun, talented, and very attractive couple who so graciously offered to model for us:

THE "workshop"

wow. what a day... i had SO much fun today. this weekend was very tiring for me, and i'm not sure why. i didn't sleep very well friday or saturday night, which became miserable for my energy. after shooting with amelia, working at gap, cleaning my room, and going to church this morning, i was pooped. boy was i glad, though, that i went to this workshop we had. it was SO much fun. i mean, it was SO much fun.

it all started with amelia, erin, emily, and i wanting to shoot with each other and learn more. next thing we knew, we had so many more people being interested in what we were doing... there ended up being 7 of us shooting at different times. i really learned from each of them.

emily, the quiet one today who took in all the wisdom. i'm jealous:

jamie, the one who somehow goes for the shot that i think is random and totally rocks it:

kristen, who totally took charge with the kid's photos and taught us more about children's photography:

amelia, the crazy one who's always making her clients laugh and have a good time:

erin, my new friend who came in a lot of "hats": photographer, mom, wife, model... i'm super impressed. plus, she is hott and has some awesome red streaks.

can't wait to see what everyone came up with. thanks to abby, matt, and aubrie (and corey and grayben) for making it so eventful and fun. i could've shot for another good 5 hours!

third shooting

So, earlier today I got the HONOR and PRIVILEGE of third shooting a wedding with Amelia and Emily. I use the term "second shooting" a lot, and that's usually what Kristen does for me at weddings. I really miss it, though, because it's so much less stress. There's no planning involved in the process -- you just show up and shoot whatever you want to shoot. I went to practice, so a lot of mine were taken with a "risk," which means that a lot of mine were deleted. There are some GREAT ones, though, and I can't wait to see what happens when they all get combined.

I hope to post some of my wedding photos as the "third shooter" soon. I'm not going to start editing, though, until I finish wedding photos or workshop photos. That's right... Workshop TOMORROW.

i miss my camera

I have spent SO much time studying due to nursing school that I really don't remember the last time I took a picture. It's so sad. I have a few fun ones from Riley's birthday party that I may post but not any new wedding/portrait photos. Check back, though... I cannot wait for all my photo op's toward the end of May and the summertime.

Plus, I'm working on a little adventure... I'll keep you updated.

so, the wedding fad of the year, i have decided, is to get married in july. it's a great fad, though, because each and every wedding is one that i am looking very forward to... i have 5 in 4 weekends, 2 of which i am in. that's going to be different for me, but i can't wait. :)

with that said, i'm at a bit of a lull as far as photography is concerned. soon, the weather will be beautiful, and i am hoping to start shooting some fun kids' shots. until then, i'll just hold out until april. my fantastic friend, amy, will be getting married in mississippi. then, june holds what will be a really fun ompc wedding. then, there's july...

my plan for the next month or so is to experiment and play around with my camera. with that said, i am hoping to be able to post some fun photos. check back!!!

Treasure

My family had some photos taken last week by a fantastic photographer named Jason Wallis.  I really do not know what to describe the slideshow as other than a treasure in my life. I will cherish the photos FOREVER... It sounds silly to say, but when I think about the future, my only goal is to have huge photos of things that mean a lot to me. That is really all that matters, I think. With that said, to have photos done so well of people who mean so much to me - really, it's more than a treasure. I just do not know how to describe it. Almost like I do not know how to describe the talent of Jason Wallis. Unbelievable, yet he has such a humble spirit. With this introduction, enjoy the photos. You will NOT be let down, I promise!

Merry Christmas. This is my gift, but I want everything to share in it:

slow week

So, there aren't any photo op's this week before Christmas. I do have one, though, the day after Christmas. Hopefully I'll get those posted before my 2 weddings the week of New Years. I am anticipating some GREAT moments to capture with those two. :)

For now, my new site should be up VERY soon. It is the same web address, just new site. Keep checking on it, and pretty soon it'll be updated. Merry Christmas, Camille!!

love well

Recently, I have spent a lot of time considering what this life is all about... what can I do to make a difference, make an impact. I came to the conclusion that it's all about loving well. We are called to love others, which is the hardest task of all. So often I enjoy loving myself... It is hard to think beyond that.
One thing I love about photography, though, is that it is a way to love others. Thinking back through the beginning of this great side-job of mine, what sets apart a good photographer is their care and concern for the client. I have been astounded at the example of this I have been able to witness from some of the best. So, here is my plug to them. (I really need to plug Brooke because her blog entry spurred me on to do mine...)

Emily Kicklighter: www.emilykicklighter.com
Brooke Jared: www.brookejaredphotography.com
Jason Wallis: www.jasonwallis.com

My goal is that the photo sessions I do would continue to be a way for me to love people.
