Happy (Late) Birthday Aubrie

The above photo is taken with my roommate, Aubrie. She and I have known each other for probably close to 10 years and have lived together about a year and a half. She if fun-loving, kind, responsible, friendly, respectful -- just a beautiful person.

Yesterday she turned 21, and we celebrated with a lot of people who love her at The Cheesecake Factory. Yummy... It was delicious. A great time... Now, it's time for bed. A BIG FUN EXCITING WEDDING EVENT TO ANNOUNCE TOMORROW...

Big News!!!

So, there are these names in photography... Names like Melissa Jill, Mike Colon, Ben Harrison, Becker, Jasmine Star, Jessica Claire -- people whose work I completely adore. I only know them via the web, but I always hope I can meet them sometime.

Well, a few nights ago, I was checking my google reader at work and saw this pop up:

That may not mean anything to some people, but I have been trying to find a workshop to attend for a while now. It is hard to find one that works, since I am still working full-time as a nurse as well. I had thought about going to Jasmine Star's workshop, but I just couldn't figure it out before it closed. To me, this meant I was just going to sign-up and see... I might have to work around my nursing schedule a little bit, but who cares? Jessica Claire... Are you kidding me? Of course I will try!

- SOLD OUT -

I get an e-mail that says that it sold out even more quickly, and I was bummed. Oh well... life moves on.

Yesterday, I sat down to check another e-mail before heading into work:

I literally almost threw up when I saw this on my screen:

I don't know if somebody dropped out of if they just happened to have another slot open up, but I cannot tell you the thrill about the thought of this. I am SO super excited... A nice little something to look forward to for sure!

My Favorites...

Below are some of my favorites from Matt and Bonnie's wedding. They really were the kindest couple, both surrounding with loving family and friends. I enjoyed the day, and check out this church! Much thanks to Mountain Brook Baptist Church for allowing me to come and photograph that beautiful church.

Family and friends, if you are interested in seeing the entire wedding album, you can go to my main website: www.scbphotography.com and from there go to "clients," and type in the bride's name. Enjoy!!

Matt and Bonnie

Sometimes after I shoot sequences like this one, I have a hard time justifying why a couple should not see each other before they walk down the aisle. Isn't Bonnie just radiant in these photos?

a special thanks to my friend for the referral. this is a shot of her and her husband at the reception:

bonnie. bonnie. bonnie.

Matt and Bonnie were married today at Mountain Brook Baptist Church. Everything about the wedding was simple, elegant, and beautiful.

Bonnie is NOTHING but radiant inside and out. I thoroughly enjoyed spending my day with her. Here are a few first favorites of mine; it's time to get ready to go to the ER!!!

Could this be one of my favorite photos that I have taken in a while? Absolutely. I LOVE this photo.

Aren't they are a beautiful couple? Matt is pretty attractive himself, wouldn't you say?

"the place i want to be"

Camp Briarwood is a place that has always been near and dear to my heart. I have been spending time here last week and am here through the rest of this week. Camp is different now that I am older, and it takes a little more effort to enjoy the simple things in life. It is a good reminder, though, of my constant desire to please myself and enjoy the comfort we have with life. Look at this beauty:

This is Brian T. Murphy, also known as "Coach T" here at Camp Briarwood. He came out this week to help with an activity, as well as take some photographs. He destroyed the photo-taking and has brought a lot of needed laughter this week. Thanks, T.

This is the "pamper pole," which is one of my activities. The kids get to climb up and jump off. It's a lot higher than it looks, and the woods are a lot more humid than you can tell. They love it, though!

This is Amber. Amber is often my strength and my sanity. She and I met through camp and have been friends since then because of our camp bond. I love her. I love her. I love her. Amber, thanks for everything... I have loved these 2 weeks spent with you. "Hands up!"

And, one last view of camp. I shot this while I was on a teamwork activity with the kids. Sometimes you just need to stop and take in the things around you.

the sonnet house

I love the Sonnet House. I just love it... I think that the owners are nothing short of welcoming, flexible, kind, and professional. I think they have the greatest venue in Birmingham with the greatest backdrop, parking, options; it's just wonderful.

Of course to have a great wedding at the Sonnet House, you have to have a great couple. Gabe and Julie's photos are so fun for me to edit through, and I do continue to be slow with them! Thanks for your patience, Gabe and Julie. Here are some that jumped out at me while editing earlier today.
